I know this is off topic with regards to the environment, but I do believe that ending poverty in third world countries is a major issue and by eliminating it we are making the world an environmentally friendly and sustainable place to live.  PLAN Canada formerly the “Foster Parents Plan” enables individuals living in developed countries to donate basic necessities (that we take for granted) to impoverished third world countries.  For example you can help by donating mosquito nets to villages in Uganda or by supply a sheep to a village in Ghana.  These are very small lost cost gifts by our standards, but is a treasure and a life saver to many people in need.  The donation process is very simple and can all be completed with one stop to the Plan Canada web site.
