Canadian ideas for greener living

The Power of the Provinces and You

This week Premiers from all provinces across Canada are meeting to dicuss the issue of climate change and what they can do to help.  Now, I am not about to sit here and say that the premiers are going to come together on an agreement that will change the face global warming in Canada, but it is a step in the right direction.  This conference is a testement that the issue of global warming requires reponsible governments to discuss solutions, something that the federal government fails to do time and time again.

This morning on CBC morning news they broadcasted a report from the conference outlining some of the strong agendas that have been put forward by the individaul provinces.  The most signifigant came from the province of BC with a goal to cut their carbon emissions by 80 percent.  One way of reaching this goal was to ban all drive thurs at fast foot restaurants across the provice.  What a great idea!!!

The point behind this is that the provinces are beign proactive.  They have to be because changes to environmental policies will never come while Prime Minister Harper is in power.  The same goes for everyone else, rather than waiting for a responsible government to move our country towards sustainability we can all do our part to help.  Regardles of how small it is, every little bit helps.

Thanks for reading!!

Keep it green
