Finding the balance between innovation and sustainability

Do You Have The Right Solutions for Wal-Mart?

Wal-Mart launched a company-wide sustainability initiative with the goals of generating zero waste, being supplied by 100% renewable energy and to selling products that sustain resources and the environment. Now, Wal-Mart has partnered with Cleantech Group and developed a website that enables people, groups, or companies to submit solutions to Wal-Mart that will help them achieve their objectives and not effect their bottom line.

The site will serve as a gateway between solution providers and Wal-Mart. As a registered user of the site you will be able to access descriptions of Wal-Mart’s needs and provide information on your suggested solutions. The company is looking for solution considerations in the areas of:

  • Sustainable management of organic waste
  • Sustainable management of oil-based waste
  • Sustainable management of household hazardous waste
  • Alternative battery technologies for forklifts
  • Wind harvesting
  • Sustainable building materials, and
  • Closed-loop water processing

So there you go! For any of you that think you have a solution go to this website and see if you can make a difference. I believe that if a corporation like Wal-Mart can achieve lower emissions and sustainability, there is no excuse for any other corporation. Hopefully they can start a trend that will have a ripple effect through the business world.

Keep it Green,

Paul
