Yerba Mate, Mate!

We all have our routines or traditions that get us going in the morning, mine like allot of people in this world, is coffee. I haven’t always been an avid coffee drinker, it seems just of late, as this winter seems to drag on. Although, being quite a healthy conscious person, I’ve always felt guilty about drinking allot of coffee because of the caffeine.

Well via a very interesting post by TreeHugger, I may have found an alternative to coffee, and not only is it organic and free trade like my usual coffee, it is supposedly a carbon-subtracting beverage, if that makes sense? Click here to read the full article, but what has got me hooked on this idea is how its a great alternative to coffee and the company is just amazing too.

The company is Guayaki, and the drink is Yerba Mate. Yerba Mate is essentially a slightly less potent stimulant than coffee and much gentler on the stomach. Its sounds very tasty and the company speaks volumes about the product as well. I am going to try and get my hands on this drink and hopefully come back with a part 2 to this blog. So make sure to check out the above article and company, really is interesting stuff, the company uses solar power, biofuel and all that good stuff so make sure to read up on it, and who knows… mabey try this new drink with me.

Keep it Green,

Paul

I drink yerba from time to time. I’m not a big fan though. Have you tried good loose leaf tea? I always have a cup of good tea in the morning.

I love the Instant Yeraba Mate Royale made with Stevia from SweetLeaf. I like that i can have it hot or cold. Yerba Mate is way way better than coffee!
