There is no doubt that waste generated by technology is a serious problem and I am sure many of you have seen countless interviews and videos describing where that waste ends up and the impact it is having. Click here to get a small idea of the issue.

Now today is not the day that the problem of e-waste has been solved, however I do come bearing some positive news regarding companies that have a hand in creating this e-waste. Dell is now powering 100 percent of its 2.1 million square-foot global headquarters campus, home to more than 10,000 employees, with 100 percent green power, the latest step in meeting the company’s 2008 carbon neutral commitment.

Partnered with Waste Management, TXU Energy, and The Climate Group Dell has made an impressive step forward to reducing their impact on the environment. Dell is using all of the power generated from Waste Management’s Austin Community Landfill gas-to-energy plant, meeting 40 percent of Dell headquarters’ campus power needs. The remaining 60 percent comes from existing wind farms and is provided by TXU Energy. Impressive right? It’s great to see Dell making strides in reducing their impact on the environment and it would be great to see more companies following suit. If anyone has any recent information about any other companies, besides Apple, it would be great to hear about it. So click here and here to learn all about what Dell is doing to help the issue.

Keep it Green,

Paul
