Yes, yes, the trend is catching on. Bike riding is up, car driving is down. It really is a no brain’er! Gas is getting too high and people are starting to make the choice, drive or bike? The cost of gas is rising and is beginning to have an impact on the way people live. People are starting to find that driving a car is a financial burden and are finding new ways to get around. The beauty is, its not even your normal citizen, its also those big paid celebrities that are breaking out the bikes!
The Department of Transportation said Monday it had seen the sharpest monthly drop in driving since it began keeping records. In March, Americans drove 11 billion fewer miles than in March of 2007. Thats an astounding stat and, I know it does lead to some negative impacts on people’s lives, its great to think about the emissions and carbon saved. As of right now there is no end in sight for oil prices going down, and I believe its safe to say that over time oil will only continue to go up. With that being said, people are finding other ways to get around until all those beautiful emission/oil free cars are available. CNN did a great quick article showing how people are adjusting to the high oil prices and having a positive impact on the Earth at the same time. Its terrible when people cannot afford to get around, but it really is great seeing people adapt to the change and find out that they can be better off.
Keep it Green,
Paul
